Doctoral Dissertation

Synopsis

Students are expected to complete a doctoral dissertation that reflects an original, applied and independent scholarly contribution to the body of knowledge in the chosen field. This will culminate in a dissertation examination, which is followed by an oral defence. The student will be guided by a dissertation supervisor in the completion of the dissertation. The culmination of a doctoral candidate’s final stage of graduate research study lies in the writing, submission and defence of the dissertation.

Topics

The topics are to be aligned to the topic of the dissertation, as advised by a supervisor.

Prepare a scientific and rigorous applied research proposal.

Organise and analyse data, and interpret the results.
Construct a detailed and comprehensive dissertation.
