Tamil Syntax (TLL208)

Synopsis

Students will be introduced to formal syntax within the contemporary linguistic framework. This course exposes students to show how words combine to form sentences and the rules governing those combinations. It looks at clause structures, compound verb constructions and complex construction. It discusses a wide variety of syntactic phenomena in Tamil language. Topics discussed are: clause structure, compound constructions, complex constructions, complementation and nominalization, etc.
