Synopsis

Hiring the best person for the job is essential in today's demanding business climate. Morale, operation costs, and the organisation's performance are all impacted by hiring the wrong person.

The interviewing and selection process is a crucial step in the hiring process. The Competency-Based Interview and Selection Technique workshop concentrates on an applicant's prior actions or behaviour in relation to the abilities, skills or knowledge needed for the position for which they are applying. The interviewing approach is based on the concept that a person's past behaviours best indicate their future performance. Hiring is conducted more methodically and with greater emphasis using this approach instead of relying on hunches, unrealised biases, or unfair practices. This ensures that the organisation is adopting a fair and progressive employment practice.

The course will equip the participants with the knowledge and skills to understand the differences between traditional and competency approaches, identify the required competencies for the job, craft competency-based interview questions, conduct the interview and select the best candidate to hire based on the framework of the Competency-Based Interviewing and Selections techniques.

This one-day course will teach recruiting managers, supervisors or any staff who need to do interviewing, regardless of experience level, how to use this robust framework to hire the best candidate for the job. The course uses a combination of lectures, group discussions, structured activities, videos and role-plays to provide an interactive and experiential-based learning environment.
