This talk aims to provide an overview of the changing nature of public security in advancing Smart City initiatives in Singapore. Despite the pandemic, Singapore continues to develop its Smart City strategies with specific measures to counter the threats in the cyberspace. Mr Chong Rong Hwa shares his perspective on the use of technology and innovative solutions to protect and safeguard individuals and infrastructures. The discussion includes the need for capacity building and for community to come together to make Smart City, a safe city.
Mr Chong Rong Hwa
Mr Chong Rong Hwa is currently leading both the “Government Cyber Strategy & Policy” and “Advanced Cyber Capabilities” divisions under the GovTech “Cyber Security Group” (CSG). These divisions are responsible for delivering forward-looking cyber strategies and advanced cybersecurity capabilities to uplift and enhance the security of our Government.
Prior to joining GovTech, he was the senior architect and senior manager of the FireEye Labs based in Silicon Valley. He led the FireEye Labs research and engineering teams to combat against advanced threats, such as APT malware and zero-day vulnerability exploits.
Dr Razwana Begum
Dr Razwana Begum holds a PhD in business ethics and restorative justice from Monash University, Australia, as well as post-graduate qualifications in social work, criminology, and counselling.
Razwana is currently a Senior Lecturer at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), and is Head of the Public Safety and Security Programme within the School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences.
