Expressing Gratitude To Our Unsung Heroes At The Ministry of Home Affairs

Our students reflect how Singaporeans stand in solidarity amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, in this video.
(This video was filmed by SUSS Marketing students, Joycelyn Tay and Toh Seng Hong.)

While the current COVID-19 situation in Singapore is undoubtedly a cause for concern, the SUSS community chose to come together to extend its gratitude and show support to the unsung heroes at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), who have been working tirelessly day and night, to increase security at our land border checkpoints during this challenging time.

After a tireless morning distributing over 200 care packs, our SUSS students and staff, together with representatives from Wen Ken Group, took a group photo with senior Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers, Senior Assistant Commander Mr Sim Chun Yong, and Deputy Commander Mr Tng Ban Chuan (both pictured centre)!

SUSS, together with our partner Wen Ken Group, distributed care packs to the MHA officers at the Woodlands Checkpoint on the morning of Feb 27. The care packs included items for the officers' well-being, such as the renowned Three Legs Cooling Water, cooling tea and cough syrup. This was coupled with heartfelt appreciation notes penned by our very own SUSS students and staff.

One of the student volunteers, Darren Leow, shared his experience: "After seeing Singaporeans come together to fight against COVID-19, it sparked my desire to contribute to our nation. Since SUSS gave us the opportunity, why not seize it?"

Mr Fu Siang Jeen, managing director of Wen Ken Group, shared with us that we should not forget those who are at the frontlines. It was an eye-opening experience seeing our officers in action, and it is definitely not easy in this intense Singapore heat. So, remember to thank them when you are crossing the border!"
