SUSS and North West CDC Extends Partnership to Provide Funding Support for Community Projects

Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and North West North West Community Development Council (NW CDC) renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 30 March 2021. With the three-year renewal extension, NW CDC will commit another $300,000 of funding under the North West WeCare Fund to support SUSS in engaging the community through sustainable and meaningful initiatives.

The MOU was signed by Mr Alex Yam, Mayor of North West District, and Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President, SUSS. 100 SUSS staff and students joined in on the MOU signing ceremony livestreamed on Zoom. The event was also held in conjunction with the North West Sustainability Forum where Mr Paul Tan, Sustainability Director of Nike Inc, shared sustainability efforts and technologies that Nike has developed and incorporated into its operations.

The North West WeCare Fund since 2018 has supported 17 community engagement projects, enabling 1,200 SUSS volunteers to reach out to over 2,200 beneficiaries.
