SUSS Collaborates With DSTA To Develop Certificate In Procurement Management

On 30 January 2018, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) to develop a joint certification programme that leads to the DSTA-SUSS Certificate in Procurement Management.

The MOU was signed by Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President of SUSS; and Mr Tan Peng Yam, Chief Executive of DSTA. The ceremony was attended by key officials of SUSS and DSTA, including the witness, Mr Neo Kian Hong, Permanent Secretary (Defence Development) and Chairman of DSTA.

The programme aims to raise the capabilities of procurement professionals in the Singapore Public Service by deepening their knowledge across all areas of the discipline. It comprises a mix of courses from both SUSS and DSTA. The three SUSS courses were strategically chosen to reflect the legal, technical and human behaviour components of procurement, whereas DSTA courses focus on procurement in a project management context. Together, the programme combines theory and practice and sets a good foundation for the study and application of procurement for the Singapore Public Service.
