Our heartiest congratulations to Team SUSS Law on being crowned champions of SCCA Legal Eagle Challenge 2022 for the first time since the inception of the competition in 2020!

Organised by the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA), the competition invites teams of students to assume the role of a general counsel and come up with a solution to a problem presented to them by a fictional board of directors. This year’s competition involved a fictional company seeking to provide energy solutions in a neighbouring country and covered issues of corporate structure, dispute resolution mechanisms and the growing concerns of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance). Competing against teams from institutions such as NUS, SMU and TP in the finals, the team presented their recommendation in front of a panel of judges and live audience to secure a first-place finish!

The delighted team comprising SUSS Law Programme students, Adele Neo, Tan Kah Keng, Zaher Bin Wahab and Ellis Kusomo, shared, "This journey was challenging and rewarding. It was exciting to put into practice our recently acquired knowledge from law school into a real-world commercial problem and to present our recommendation to a large audience. In the process, we learnt from each other, benefitted from discussions with tutors and seniors during our preparation, and gained valuable insights from the other finalists. Finally, we treasure our new and closer friendships."

A special mention and appreciation to the team’s advisor, SUSS School of Law lecturer, Mr Tris Xavier, for taking time to guide and advise them at different points throughout the competition and for his support at the venue on the day of the finals!

Well done, Team SUSS Law!
