On 16 March 2018, the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) kick-started its three-year collaboration with the North West Community Development Council (CDC) to provide funding support of up to $300,000 under the North West WeCare Fund.

With this collaboration, close to 600 staff and student volunteers are able to develop and spearhead ground-up projects that will benefit 2,000 beneficiaries. Some of the projects include mentoring needy students, caring for the environment, engaging seniors through smart devices, and co-creating programmes with North West CDC. These projects put the students' skills, expertise and knowledge into practice and engage the community at the same time.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr Teo Ho Pin, Mayor of North West District and Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, President, Singapore University of Social Sciences, at one of the ground-up projects called "Befriending and Coaching Humanitarian (BACH) Campus Tour @ North West". Close to 60 beneficiaries from this project were invited for a campus tour as well as to witness the MoU.
