Equipping Caregivers To Better Support And Care For Patients

Equipping Caregivers To Better Support And Care For Patients

HCA Hospice Care (HCA) – Singapore's largest home hospice care provider and a registered charity since 1989 – provides comfort and support to patients with life-limiting illnesses regardless of age, religion, ethnicity, nationality and financial status.

As part of supporting and caring for patients, HCA provides training to empower the patient’s caregiver, so that the caregiver would be more confident and competent to handle the care. It is important for caregivers to be equipped with the relevant knowledge and competency on proper caregiving, especially for caregivers looking to improve the quality of life of patients.

On 16 March 2021, HCA and SUSS entered into an agreement to jointly develop courses for caregivers. Four micro-learning courses were soft-launched on the Gnowbe platform by the following month:

  • Active Caregiver Empowerment: Medical Essentials
  • Active Caregiver Empowerment: Nursing Essentials
  • Active Caregiver Empowerment: End-of-Life Essentials
  • Active Caregiver Empowerment: Self-Care Essentials

Leveraging SUSS’s expertise in online learning and andragogy, these courses provide flexibility to the caregivers to access and learn bite-size learning contents anytime, anywhere whilst ensuring the patients’ needs are met.
