Accomplished Collaboration

Singapore Civil Defence Forces

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) is a uniformed organisation under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The SCDF main roles are to provide land and marine fire-fighting, rescue and emergency ambulance services. In addition, SCDF formulates, implements and enforces regulations on fire safety and civil defence shelters. SCDF also responds to a wide range of civil emergencies and incidents involving hazardous materials, mass casualty incidents and unconventional threats.

On 16 October 2015, SUSS signed an MOU with SCDF, together with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Nanyang Polytechnic, Institute of Technical Education and Justice Institute of British Columbia, to jointly promote paramedicine skills mastery through training and education. SUSS' Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering programme, with a minor in Paramedicine and Emergency Response, is one of the new programmes under the National Paramedic Training and Education Roadmap, which was launched by SAF and SCDF.
