Nicholas Gabriel Lim is the Head of Programme for Youth Work and Professional Life Coaching at the Singapore University of Social Sciences.
He is also a registered psychologist who sits on the board of a few psychological intervention centers in Singapore, and provides direction for their clinical practices. His sharing is based on his professional contribution to one of the centers specializing in Game Dependency.
Nicholas has been working with young people and their families for two decades. He is passionate and very interested about understanding and supporting them through life and various behavioral challenges.
Nicholas is the co-founder of the Youth Work Association (Singapore), a clinical supervisor to young budding psychologist, a youth mentor, and an author of Playbook for Helping Youths Succeed, and the ebook on Understanding Adolescents, both under the main theme of Clash of the Mind and Heart.
His practice is guided by neuroscience and you can have a glimpse of this in his sharing and in the books he has written.
He has spent his career in the people, private and public sectors. All of which have been with young people, their families, and advocates of the young.
Given his depth and breadth of work with young people, he has been on various government advisory councils, like the Media Literacy Council and the National Council for Problem Gambling, to provide our government with his professional input.
Nicholas not only has Degrees in Psychology from the University of Queensland and the Nanyang Technological University, but also various clinical and practice certificates like for Youth Work Coaching and Supervision, Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, Adventure Therapy, and Therapeutic Behaviour Management, just to name a few.
He also has a Juris Doctor. And this makes him a very unique mental health / legal practitioner! When you have a young person or loved one acting out and involved with the law, and need help, reach out to him!
In his free time, Nicholas enjoys reading a good book and heading to the gym.
