CollaborAItion: Creative Writing Using AI
The use of AI generative tools such as ChatGPT and Midjourney has divided the creative industry into two sides: Those who decry AI’s infringement of copyrights and sound the death knell for creativity, and those who welcome AI as a collaborator. Felix belongs to the latter camp.
In this talk, Felix will examine how AI can be harnessed by writers, not only as a strategy to think out of the box, but also overcome the proverbial writer’s block. He will use examples from his own experiments with ChatGPT to generate the plot for his graphic novel The Showgirl and the Minister to show that AI – at this stage of development anyway – cannot yet come up with something novel and creative enough to be published.
