In January 2023, 113 SUSS student-athletes competed in the 2023 Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic (IVP) Games. Our Competition Groups (CG) participated in six sports and brought home six medals and other outstanding accomplishments!

With SUSS being a first-time host of the bowling IVP Games, our Bowling CG gave an electrifying performance over the two-day competition. The 20 bowlers gave their all and emerged as champions in the Men’s Doubles and 2nd runner-up in the Men’s All-Events.

Bowler Lim Wei Yung, and SUSS Bachelor of Communication student, reflected on his experience, “With all the striking and cheering from the various schools, the atmosphere inside Temasek Club’s bowling alley was different from our regular training sessions. It wasn’t easy to maintain focus, but we knew we needed to make every throw count. With the support of our teammates, we persevered and fought with tenacity, leading to the Men’s Doubles gold medal.”

Having qualified for IVP Games for the first time, the SUSS Ultimate Frisbee and Floorball Men teams went through an unforgettable experience. Both teams secured a spot in the semi-finals but narrowly missed out on a medal due to the strong competition, and they ended up with an overall fourth placing this IVP season.

Reflecting on how he bounced back after experiencing a loss this IVP season, student-athlete Xzaver Lee, SUSS Business Analytics student, shared, “It’s alright to feel disappointed after a bad game but don’t let the loss define you. If you do not give up and continue to work on your game and play to the best of your ability, you will bounce back stronger next season.”

SUSS is immensely proud of our student-athletes for their inspiring performance during IVP 2023. Thank you for representing SUSS and all the best for future competitions!
