The current prevailing trends across all industry sectors revolve around digitalization and digital transformation. The success and continuity of businesses now depend on their capacity to embrace and adapt to the wave of digital transformation. Many organizations actively support digitalization and digital transformation initiatives through data science projects, internet of things (IoT) projects like sensor deployment and the reinforcement of IT resources. However, a mere capture of data from sensors and displaying on dashboard does not constitute true digital transformation, and it often yields minimal to no tangible benefits for the business. This situation is akin to purchasing all the ingredients for a recipe and expecting the dish to be magically prepared without any effort.

The Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GDAIoT) programme offered by the School of Science & Technology at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) is a specialized program designed to equip students with the fundamentals of IoT devices, IoT networks, data collection, data management and business models. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the key for leveraging the information contained in the data collected from IoT systems. AI and IoT are the corner stones for digital transformation across industries like healthcare, smart cities, agriculture, logistics, and manufacturing. Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), which is a combination of AI and IoT, enables the provisioning of smart and connected solutions by combining the asset intelligence (from AI) and swarm intelligence (from IoT).

This program allows students to excel in the dynamic and rapidly evolving field of AI and the IoT, providing a unique educational experience that empowers students to harness the full potential of smart and connected solutions.

    Key Features of the Programme

    • Provide in-depth knowledge and practical insights into various IoT business models. Understanding how IoT technologies can create value for businesses is crucial in today's rapidly evolving tech landscape. We cover topics such as IoT Product Development and Monetization, Subscription-based Model, Asset Sharing and Tracking models, giving our students a comprehensive understanding of the commercial aspects of IoT.
    • Prepare students to take AZ-220 Microsoft Azure IoT Developer exam. Through this course, students will be able to set up Azure IoT Hub solution infrastructure, provision and manage the devices, process and manage data and implement IoT edge, business integration and security. Students will gain the skills for maintaining and troubleshooting the configuration of the devices throughout the lifecycle.
    • Go beyond theory by providing hands-on experience in designing AIoT systems.

    Admission Requirements

Refer to general admission criteria for graduate programmes.

This programme is currently unable to take in international students, i.e., you must be a Singapore citizen, permanent resident or a resident in Singapore (e.g., Employment Pass holder) in order to apply for admission.

Applicants should have a keen interest in coding; a basic understanding on communication systems and working of internet; and interest in building simple electronic systems.

Applicants are advised to do the following free courses before joining the programme.

    Financial Assistance

The University offers course fee concession for selected graduate programmes. Please click here for more details.

    Programme Structure

GDAIoT students are required to complete 30 credit units (cu) of coursework. However, students can also opt to exit with the Graduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GCAIoT) upon completion of 15 cu of courses and maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5. Students who complete the specified 30 cu and maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.5 are eligible for the Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GDAIoT). Courses are based on a 5-cu configuration unless stated otherwise.

The candidature for GDAIoT has a minimum period of one (1) year and a maximum period of two (2) years. Classes are conducted in the evenings during weekdays and some Saturday mornings or afternoons, so students can continue to work during the day and study in the evenings or at weekends.
A Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things is typically designed for individuals with varying educational and professional backgrounds, including information technology, business management, marketing, sales, and entrepreneurship, who are looking to gain hands-on skills in the field of AIoT and develop/implement smart services in their respective industries. Students must have a keen interest in coding; a basic understanding on communication systems and working of internet; and interest in building simple electronic systems.
The specialized skills acquired during the Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things program, including sensor technology, networking, business models, AI and cloud computing, open up a wide range of career opportunities in various industries and sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, supply chain, facility management, industry 4.0, smart city and many more where AIoT solutions continue to drive innovation and transformation. Graduates can pursue roles such as IoT Firmware Engineer, IoT System Engineer, IoT Architect, IoT Developer, AI Engineer and R&D engineer.
    1. How long is the duration to complete the Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GDAIoT)?
The GDAIoT will take 12 to 24 months to complete.

    2. When are the lessons scheduled?
Lessons are scheduled on weekdays evening from 7 pm to 10 pm and some Saturday mornings or afternoons.

    3. What are the assessment components in each course?
It consists of a mixture of classroom participation (PCT), group-based assignments (GBAs) and End of Course Assessments (ECAs).

    4. How many intakes are there in a year for the Graduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence of Things (GDAIoT)?
One intake a year (July semester)

    5. What happens if I do not complete the graduate programmes (e.g. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Master) within the candidature period? Can I apply to take the remaining courses via CET pathway?
Students who have not completed their graduate programmes within the stipulated candidature period will not be eligible for the award of the qualification for such graduate programmes. Such students however may apply to take, via the CET pathway, the remaining courses which they did not complete under their graduate programmes as part of their personal learning and development. Such application will be subjected to the CET admission requirement. However, as such students have exceeded the candidature period for their graduate programmes, they will not be awarded the qualification for such graduate programmes even after taking and completing the remaining courses via the CET pathway ("Condition").

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS COURSE, IS ONE OF THE COURSES UNDER A GRADUATE PROGRAMME. THEREFORE, APPLICANTS FOR THIS COURSE ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOREGOING CONDITION. BY SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION FOR THIS COURSE, THE APPLICANT AGREES TO BE SUBJECT TO THE FOREGOING CONDITION.

    6. Is the GDAIoT stackable towards other Master's programmes at SUSS?
The GDAIoT is stackable towards the Master of Management (MMGT).
