The Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management (GCNPM) programme aims to impart and deepen the knowledge and practical skills needed to meet the unique challenges of this non-profit sector. Areas of focus include leadership skills in the social sector, stakeholder management including volunteers, ethics, governance and risk management in the non-profit sector. Whether you are interested in beginning a career in non-profit sector or you are transitioning from another sector, our programme offers opportunities at all levels to pick up new knowledge and skill sets relevant to this industry. It is also meant for those whose work involve Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or for anyone who wants to know more about the non‐profit sector, especially on how to manage volunteers as well as understanding the broad framework on governance and aspects of risk management.

The GCNPM courses are mapped to the skills framework for Social Service and is approved for subsidy under the Skills‐Future series.

Upon completion of GCNPM and meeting all academic requirements, applicants who intend to pursue further qualifications and knowledge in the non-profit area can apply for the Graduate Diploma in Non-Profit Management (GDNPM) programme.

Applicants are required to submit their Resume / Curriculum Vitae (CV) during application.

On a case by case basis, applicants without an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution but who possess many years of work experience (with strong recommendation letter from the employer) will be considered for admissions.

This programme is currently unable to take in international students, i.e., you must be a Singapore citizen, permanent resident or a resident in Singapore (e.g., Employment Pass holder) in order to apply for admission.

GCNPM students are required to complete 15 cu of coursework. The minimum period is half a (0.5) year. Students have to maintain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 in their coursework as part of the fulfilment of the GCNPM programme.

Currently, the modular courses within the GCNPM programme are offered via Centre for Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE). NPM504 and NPM506 are offered in July semester and NPM512 is offered in January semester. Upon successful completion of these modular courses and attaining the minimum CGPA, eligible students may apply for the graduate certificate.

It is aimed at middle management in the social services, arts, music and sports sectors: another potential group is professionals and leaders who are considering a mid-career transition into the non-profit sector from other fields. Such professionals may be motivated by the meaningful social impact of their work in the non-profit sector. While these 'sector movers' are likely to have existing leadership and management skills, they may be keen on further enhancing their knowledge and personal capacities within the non-profit sector.

Leadership opportunities in the non-profit sector for graduates exist in voluntary welfare organisations, philanthropic organisations and foundations, and multi-national companies. With the training obtained from the GCNPM, the graduates may be able to train staff in social enterprises and social entrepreneurship organisations on management.

What is the minimum and maximum candidature of the programme?
GCNPM can be completed in 6 months, with a maximum candidature period of two years.
What is the graduation requirement?
Students are required to pass the 3 compulsory courses and attain a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
How many intakes are there in a year?
One intake a year; every July.
When are classes conducted?
Classes for the GCNPM programme are held on either weekday evenings or Saturdays. A student can take up to three courses each semester. For courses with overseas lecturers, a condensed version (combining weekdays and weekends or two consecutive weekends) of the schedule may be utilised. Online instructions and video conferencing may also be explored to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
What are the assessment components in each course?
Assessments would consist of any of the following:
- Class Participation
- Individual Marked Assignment
- Group Based Assignment
- End of Course Assignment
Instead of signing up for a Graduate Certificate programme, can I just register for one course?
Applicants may continue to sign up for modular courses as CET by submitting an application via the CET application portal. Upon successful completion of and attainment of the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 for the required modular courses, eligible CET students may apply for the graduate certificate.
What happens if I do not complete the Graduate Diploma within the candidature period? Can I apply to take the remaining courses via CET pathway?
Students who do not complete the graduate programmes within the stipulated candidature period will not be eligible for the award of the qualification. You may apply to take the remaining courses as part of your personal learning and development via CET pathway. Your application will be subjected to the CET admission requirement. However, as the candidature period has been exceeded, you will not be awarded the qualification even after taking the courses via CET pathway.
