Depending on the chosen elective and the portfolio, graduates can take on the following entry level —but not limited to—experience making positions:

Experience designer, service designer, user experience designer, and user experience researcher.

1. How many intake(s) are there in a year for the Grad Cert in Experience Design (GCXD)?
   There are two intakes per year that take place in January and July.

2. Do I need design background to enter the Grad Cert in Experience Design (GCXD)?
   Applicants with basic design skills and visual sensitivity — e.g., comfortable and capable of producing a decent presentation slide deck from scratch without using the templates, including using appropriate typefaces, colours, layout, and imagery — would help.
   
   Applicants without design skills and visual sensitivity can start with the following two core courses that build the foundations of design, i.e., thinking, making and doing:

• DES531 Graduate Design Seminar (2.5 cu) — This course builds design vocabulary and introduces a grounded perspective on Design as a discipline and profession in contemporary practice. Through readings, light research work and reflections, students will develop their understanding of design with confidence.
• DES533 Communication Design (2.5 cu) — This course focuses on (a) the development of basic design concepts and practical visual skills and (b) application of design principles in mapping, documenting and communicating the process and outcome of a given design project.

In addition, applicants may be required to take additional preparation before the commencement of selected courses.

3. How long does it take to complete the Grad Cert in Experience Design (GCXD)?
   The part-time GCXD programme duration is one (1) year, and the maximum candidature period is two (2) years.
   
   
4. Can I apply for course exemption?
   No, currently we do not offer course exemption for courses in GCXD.
   
   
5. Are there any attendance requirements?
   Most design courses are studio-based, i.e., students are expected to work collaboratively either in a physical classroom and/ or digital workspace under the guidance of an instructor and occasionally the invited guest. You are strongly encouraged to attend all sessions or make alternate arrangement with your groupmates if you are unable to attend specific session.
   
   
6. Are there any other requirements?
   There may be additional annual or monthly software subscription fees involved in the GCXD programme or selected courses.


7. Instead of signing up for a Graduate Certificate programme, can I just register for one course?
   Applicants may continue to sign up for modular courses as CET by submitting an application via the CET application portal. Upon successful completion of and attainment of the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50 for the required modular courses, eligible CET students may apply for the graduate certificate.


8. What happens if I do not complete the graduate programmes (e.g. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Master) within the candidature period? Can I apply to take the remaining courses via CET pathway?
   Students who have not completed their graduate programmes within the stipulated candidature period will not be eligible for the award of the qualification for such graduate programmes. Such students however may apply to take, via the CET pathway, the remaining courses which they did not complete under their graduate programmes as part of their personal learning and development . Such application will be subjected to the CET admission requirement. However, as such students have exceeded the candidature period for their graduate programmes, they will not be awarded the qualification for such graduate programmes even after taking and completing the remaining courses via the CET pathway (“Condition”).
